Pumpkin seeds are great source of magnesium. 1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds contains 90% of your daily value of magnesium. They are also used in many cultures as a natural treatment for tapeworms and other parasites. Pumpkin seeds contain phytosterols, compounds that have been shown to reduce levels of bad(LDL) cholesterol and protect against many cancers. They also contain L-tryptophan, a compound effective against depression. They are also high in Zinc which naturally helps prevent osteoporosis.
